Care and Maintenance

A note on materials

OOLONG jewellery brings together natural jade, diamonds, pearls, and precious metals. Each material carries its own character, from the depth of jade to the brilliance of diamonds and the soft lustre of pearls. Subtle variations in colour, texture, and tone are inherent and form part of the beauty of each piece.

Wearing your piece

OOLONG jewellery is designed to be worn often, but with intention. We recommend removing your piece before swimming, showering, exercising, or sleeping, to preserve both the stones and their settings over time.

Avoid direct contact with perfumes, lotions, and household chemicals, particularly for pieces with pearls or cord.

Cleaning

To refresh your jewellery, gently wipe with a soft cloth after wear.

  • Jade & gold: may be lightly rinsed with lukewarm water and dried thoroughly

  • Diamonds: can be cleaned gently with water and a soft cloth

  • Pearls: should only be wiped with a soft, dry cloth, avoid water and cleaning solutions

Avoid abrasive materials and ultrasonic cleaners, which may damage natural stones, pearls, or delicate settings.

Water & moisture

Occasional contact with water will not harm jade or diamonds. However, prolonged exposure to moisture, soaps, or chemicals may affect metal components, pearls, and handwoven cords over time. Always allow your jewellery to dry fully before storing.

Cord and knot work

The handwoven cords are integral to OOLONG pieces. While durable, they are sensitive to repeated exposure to water, friction, and chemicals. To preserve their structure and colour, avoid excessive moisture and rough wear.

Storage

Store your jewellery in a soft pouch or jewellery box, away from direct sunlight and humidity.

Pearls should be stored separately from harder materials to avoid scratching, and all pieces should be kept away from sharp surfaces.

Natural variations

Each stone is unique. Variations in jade, diamonds, and pearls, in tone, translucency, or surface, are natural and are embraced as part of the design.

Longevity

With mindful care, your jewellery will age gracefully, reflecting time, movement, and personal history.
